Did you think that I wasn't going to blog today?
I did.
But then I changed my mind after reading something on twitter.
I read a post about John Mayer.
I've heard tons of stuff about John Mayer - both good things, and a lot of not so good things.
And having heard so much stuff...mostly all bad, I've never really bothered to actually hear him.
Truth be told - you could play a JM song and I wouldn't know it was him.
Does that make me weird?
I think not.... but you decide. :)
So I had to check him out, finally.. and as always, google is my friend.
So is youtube.
I asked a dear friend what songs to listen to - but being my usual unpatient self, I found this video on youtube. And this.
Aaaand okay, he kinda had me from the get go.
Not his own song though, that first one, it just happens to be one of my faves!
Lucky choice for John that one, and - omg, the voice!
I get it.
As much as I hate to admit it - I get what the fuzz is about.
He sounds absolutely amazing. (oh, the agony to have to admit to that!!)
And seriously - you'd need to be pretty darn amazing to win me over with just two songs.
So - musically, I found some new respect for Mr.John Mayer.
But I will still say this; It's possible to be an awesome musician and still be an asshole. :)
Song of the day: "Who says" - John Mayer.
Sometimes I get the impression he's just really lonely and oftentimes misunderstood. Isn't that a common trait among geniuses? Not that I am implying he is one necessarily, but just sayin' ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you keep listening; I think it'll get even better. Heard "Gravity" yet?
Possibly misunderstood, possibly just arrogant and full of himself...
ReplyDeleteI dont know - and I dont care...lol. :)
Thanks for your comment sweetie!
I believe that he was trying too hard to impress those who expected him to be too cool with flippant answers. When it backfired he realized what a jerk he came off as. I have seen him live twice since then, and he is quite repentant on stage and also filled with gratitude for his fans. Yes - lonely and misunderstood, also with the sensitive heart of most musicians.
